When I decided to enter the Army, it was a normal day. I was at Lynn Classical High School studying in grade 11 when the Army recruiters came to the school. I was interested and I approached one of them to find out more about the process. I received a lot of information and he gave me his number so that he could contact me. A month passed and I sent him a message. I just wanted to tell him that I was very interested in bentering the army and my mother is interested in me entering the army. My mother knew that I could have many opportunities such as entering university and the army would pay for it. I remember watching a movie where people were in the army and they traveled a lot, met new people, and they always helped people in every way they could.
I thought it was something that could help me in my future and I really liked
that, that's why I decided to join the army. The recruiter kept saying that we
had to get together because he needed to talk to my mother to explain the
details and see if she agrees to everything. We talked for a while and met a
couple of different times at my house where the army recruiter explained all
that could happen both good and bad in joining the army. They helped to
prepare me to take the exam to enter. I practiced a lot.
Since I had practiced so much, I was ready and I passed. After that, I was told that the army wanted to wait for me to finish school. I still had my senior year to complete. Thinking of joining the army was weighing on me; I wasn't focused on my classes in the first semester, but in the second semester, I set about doing my thing. I mean, I got good grades in all my classes.
When I finally graduate, that's when I will enter the army academy in North
Carolina and head to many other places. I know that I will meet many very
good people. I’ll have many opportunities. For example, thanks to them I
can become a citizen faster. I don’t have to pay anything to go to university, I
just have to study hard. I plan to study civil engineering. I have this dream to
build a house for my mom, and if I study hard, learn what I can, and dream
big, I know that dream will be possible.
